Rev. Paul Moorhouse, B.A., M.Div.
How best to describe Paul Moorhouse? He is friendly, articulate, stimulating, happy, energizing and always interesting.
Paul has a great sense of humor and a great laugh. He loves to tell stories that have meaningful messages. His sense of wonder of the world and all it's gifts is contagious and he loves to share his enthusiasm with everyone he encounters.
One of the first things you discover about Paul, is his love of children. His interaction with the children in the church is lovely to watch. He truly enjoys their wonder and freedom of expression and encourages them to get actively involved in the service.
Paul's affection of children is underscored by the obvious affection for his daughter Jennifer and of course his lovely wife Sandy. He is truly a family man who both appreciates and is thankful for the love of his wonderful family.
Paul's depth of life experiences provide him with a unique ability to provide spiritual support and guidance in times of need.
Paul holds an undergraduate arts degree (B.A. English Literature and Philosophy -York U) and an undergrad science diploma (Humber); graduate degree (M.Div. - U of T).
He has extensive training and experience in personal, couple and family counselling; holds a certificate from ARF in addictions theory and treatment and has planted and grown a 'Rainbows' chapter (group 'therapy' for children experiencing grief).
Paul has served on a volunteer fire department, in prisons, hospitals and churches from Ontario to Alberta, including a pastoral charge in a First Nations Community.
Over the years Paul has done many kinds of work; from factory, general labour, working on the railroad in western Canada to executive speech writing in the heart of Canada's financial district. From funeral service to income maintenance work with the Regional Municipal of Durham. Clearly he has had varied background from which he can draw on to connect with almost anyone.
He is also an obsessive model-railroader !
In his own words "Lastly, and MOST IMPORTANT TO ME, I am blessed with a very loving and devoted wife, sunshine-of-my-life daughter, little buddy of a mini-Schnauzer and a deep, struggling, battered-but-living faith in God and in Jesus Christ".
